A Simple Mince Pie Recipe

Updated: Dec 21, 2021

If you’re looking for a fun cooking recipe to get your kids involved in this holiday, then try this simple yummy mince pie treat. You’ll love it.

For this recipe you’ll need;

  • Plain flour

  • Baking powder

  • Margarine

  • Salt

  • Cold water

As it’s Christmas week, I thought it’ll be fun to get my daughter involved in making this as she loves to bake and I must say team work really made this pie dream work!

To get that soft tasty pie filling, these are the ingredients we used;

  • 1 medium Irish potato

  • Diced carrots

  • Minced meat

  • Onion

  • Cooking oil

  • Seasoning

  • Thyme

  • Plain flour

  • 1 cup of cold water

  • Salt to taste

Once you add the ingredients and pour in your flour mix, it should start to thicken. The flour and water also keeps the meat pie filling moist.

It’s time to get the dough ready for the meat pie. Don’t forget to preheat your oven. I set mine to 170’c.

This is the fun part, but you want to make sure you don’t add too much margarine so it doesn’t weigh down the dough.

I found using a tablespoon to scoop the margarine in small bits into the bowl of flour really helped manage the quantity I put in. The smaller I put in, the easier it was for me to rub them into the flour.

Time to knead and shape the dough. The egg here is to seal the dough after adding the filling. Total game changer!

Scoop some filling and add to the dough to start off and seal. The fork design tip just makes it look extra delish!

The end is near people! We’ve gotten to the oven part. It’s when your pie creation starts to look real.

After 30-40mins you can finally enjoy your hard work. Yummy tasty meat pie. It’s totally worth it!

What do you think? Will you be trying this anytime soon?

Till my next post, I’m sending you love and light this Christmas.
